Reading through John I knew that I was struggling with Jesus and the fact that he is the son of God. Being a new believer, I am still in the first phases of learning the Word. Reading through John 3 I was scared a bit because it seemed that I thought the way the Pharisees thought. I really thought that I was a Pharisee...believing in God and not his son, believing in the Scriptures, but not in Jesus. How can this be? I asked myself. But as time went on and I meditated and read John and other scriptures I found something interesting. I was NOT a Pharisee. I will quote what I wrote in my God times:

9-13-07 Would it also be hard for me to believe in a man saying that he is the one Messiah God has sent? That he is the Son. I believe in the Word...so does that mean I also believe in Him? Or would I be like the Pharisees and only hear, but not listen? "This is too hard to get."(John 6:60) But I will not give up and walk away. "There is no one else to go to. Your words give us eternal life." (John 6:68-69) "I have faith in you, I am sure you are God's Holy One!"

Later I studied Romans 8, I was compelled to read this chapter because of our memory verse Pastor Dave asked us to memorize, Romans 8:28. I am glad I was guided to this chapter because it confirmed I was not a Pharisee.

9-17-07 I have been called by God and made right by Him. He has made me his child...this was meant to be from the beginning. For he called and I listened. "Here I am." I said. It took me 30 years to respond, but here I am following God and listening to his Spirit and NOT my flesh! Amen!

9-19-07 I seek the truth! I want to know that I am doing the right things to please God. Not just maybe or 95% of the time. But yes! 100% of the time...my actions, my worship to God is true and on point! God IS pleased because I am growing in my faith and in his Word. I am glad that God is paitient, but persistent. Thank you Lord for helping me "see" you and to understand you. Continue to guide me to the truth, and through self doubt, skeptisim, and fear.

John 9:38 "The man worshipped Jesus." Come on Rebekah! Remember Jesus was/is God, a part of him, so Yes, worship him. Worship Jesus and you worship the one who sent him, God. Just continue to seek his face and you will find the truth!

My entry's for 9-9-07 reading John 4:48

I think miracles only go so far. I think God knows that. Even in Egypt Pharaohs heart was hardened against 9 of God's miracles and still would not let God's people go. I think in the end even after seeing miracles and God's glorious works, you still have to believe in the Worker. Believe in the Worker not the Works, worship the Giver not the Gift.

The other day I woke up and realized that I am unlike the Pharisees after all. Since I believe in the scriptures and that the people of the old testament gave sacrifices to please God and worship Him...I do believe that I must put Jesus before Him so that I too can be close to Him and please Him. Amen! For Jesus was/is the ultimate sacrifice and his spirit and his ultimate forgiveness are his gifts.

9-26-07 It's shown throughout John that some people believed in Jesus and others didn't. Many people were so set in there ways their hearts were hardened permanently. Unable to see the truth of God's glory.(Taken from Life application study bible-NLT) I know someone who has a hardened heart and I pray for that person all the time.
