We have a 3 year old yellow lab, Summer, that we have to rehome. She is a GREAT, let me repeat, GREAT, dog. All she wants to do is please. The reason we are rehoming her is because I am starting to do childcare in my home soon and although she is wonderful with kids, she is a large dog and although she is not hyper, she has a tendency to get excited and hit the kids with her tail or step on their feet. My 3 year old son gets upset with her when she does this, so I am afraid to have her around the babies I will have at the house. Summer is an indoor dog. She does NOT like the heat and will cry to come in until you open the door and let her come in to the air conditioning. She is better about staying outside when it is cooler, in fact, you may have to tell her to come in when it's really cold out. She is current on all shots, spayed and is microchipped. She is completely housebroken and will hold it no matter what. She has had to hold it for 12 hours once. She blew out her ACL (the main joint in the knee - very common per the vet) back in February and had surgery to repair it. She has done well with the recovery but needs someone that will take her for daily walks to rehab her knee to build it back up. Unfortunately, with our schedules, we have not been able to do this. We will not let her go to anyone without first doing a home visit and getting a reference from a vet. She would be a great dog for a family with a little bit older children. If you think you can provide her a wonderful, loving home and spoil her the way she deserves, please e-mail me at kptmooney@att.net.
