I'm not sure if this would be an acceptable forum to post this blog, however, I felt I needed to get this off my chest.

Some of you on this forum and @ BRCC know that my fiance and I have a house/office cleaning business. We have some really great clients and would like to say thank you for those that have accepted us for their housekeeping needs on a regular or semi regular basis. For those that have tried us and weren't pleased with us, our deepest apologies and best wishes in finding the service that best suits your needs.

If you previously had a housekeeping service that came to your residence or office on some sort of regular basis and were not happy with them, did you express your disappointments or concerns with them before you fired or stopped using them? Was it their first time cleaning your residence or office after your previous housekeeping service had not been there in some time, expecting your house or office to totally "spotless" in one cleaning? All this is very important information to any cleaning services. Also expressing your expectations at the time of service is very valuable as well. It lets the cleaning services know exactly what you as a homeowner or office manager want to be done.

Folks, in our business, when we leave a customer, we always let them know to call us if we may have missed something. Trust us, we have a few clients that will "gently" remind us of areas that we may have missed. We are human and we try our best to make your place a nicer, fresher and cleaner one, however, there might be a few instances where an area or areas might have been missed, or trouble spots so severe that one cleanig isn't going to cut it. Most services are more than happy to come back and remedy the situation at no cost. You paid for the services, they should make good on it if they missed one or several areas...and yes, even after a first time.

With that being said...we can only do so much in the period of time we allot for cleaning ONE residence or office, based on the size (square footage) and any other things that may or may not be done (first time cleanings of a new client usually last from 1 1/2 to 2 hours so that we familarize ourselves with your residence). Also it helps, if you, the customer, are wanting specific areas attended to, that you express those desires before any work is done either by a note, email or something as simple as a phone call to the service.

If your house or office has not been tended to on a regular basis, smells like a kennel, has a ton of cigarette smoke, and has a 2 inch layer of dust all over, it's going to take more than one cleaning in an alloted time frame to make it look and smell cleaner than what YOU are accustomed to. Other factors that also will extend cleaning period times, are animals, kids, and the general condition of what is needing to be cleaned. For example, if you have a fiberglass tub or shower enclosure that was white when you purchased your home, and is now yellow, NO AMOUNT of any of type bleach or cleaners is going to make it look new ever again, that's just a fact of life. In order to make it look white again, you will need to have someone strip it down, and resurface it with a color of your choosing. The same holds true with porcelain ceramic over steel tubs. Now, there are tricks to getting the lime scale out of porcelain tubs and toilets without chemicals, however, to do so usually will cost the customer another charge, as we do with our business. The same holds true with ovens and other heavy as needed cleaning. Remember, house/office cleaning services can be designed to suit your needs.

Expectations of what you as a customer want in any service is a valued commodity for the service you wish to use. Most of us do not take our cars to get it washed or the oil changed without first knowing what the service is going to do for you. Extra's cost more. We all know that. The same holds true for the house/office cleaning services. Tell them what you want and expect.

Hope everyone has an awesome week!

Ray
