Ok Dave, you opened up the can of worms...

Tattoos. Some people are opposed to them because they're mentioned in the bible several times in a negative light. Comments *please*?

You're right about biblical references, but have you checked them in the context of Israel's tattooed neighbors the Canaanites? What did their tattoos represent?

In Hosea 3, we read that God detested the eating of raisin cakes. Would it be wrong for me to eat Fig Newtons? No. The raisin cakes referred to were used in pagan religious rituals.

You will find that the prohibited tattoos were a similar prohibition. It is wise to understand that if your desired tattoo is an advertisement for ungodliness, it is prohibited. But whatever is past and repented of is over and done; there is just a permanent reminder on your skin. Perhaps another tattoo artist can help alter the original, just as God took your marred life and made something beautiful from it?

Thanks! That helps.

And funny you mention altering the original. I have an earth dragon tattooed on my right forearm; bugs the wife since dragons are also mentioned in a negative light in the bible. Talked to the people you had on stage last weekend doing the tat... want to get a cross that morphs into a sword piercing the dragon's heart. By sheer coincidince (right!), they're going to be doing a thing in November where all tattoo fees go to the Mexican orphanage we support... you might well see Red with some new ink soon!

Incidentally, could we get details on that November thing posted here? Good chance that others may participate who didn't go up and chitchat with the artists on stage after the service, since nothing was mentioned.

That was news to me. I'll ask around. Maybe someone will post it to the regular forum.

From the main forum:

hey, poison. just heard you're interested in a tat. in a month or so wife cleo and i will open a shop on the southside, as friend Hillary kindly points out in another missive, and we'll be glad then to do the best we can.

i'm also pleased Hillary mentioned our plan to help casa hogar with the donations of this venture. we're convinced the Lord is behind all this and it is just too cool watching Him work. more later.

meantime you can call our cell, 332-7907, and let us know what you have in mind, regarding design. it helps loads to have artwork in advance so i can prepare.

all right then, laters . . . . Roy and Cleo

p.s. anyone reading this message interested in same feel free to call. the more the merrier. you can also e-mail us at cleomgomez@yahoo.com.
