Is each and every person on Earth guilty of Adam's sin? If so, why would we be punished for a sin we did not commit? Also, what is "total depravity"? Does this mean that each person (unsaved) is without the image and likeness of God? I have heard some groups say that we are suffering the consequences of Adam's sin, but we are not being punished for Adam's sin specifically. Please comment. Thanks.

OK, seriously now...

It is a fact that we have all sinned the sin of Adam. We have relied on our own desires rather than the truth of God. We have done what is convenient rather than what is best. There is no dount that sin is in us inherently because it is inherited.

Total depravity means total helplessness at being holy. Fallenness is our experience; holiness is not. The only way we can be holy is for God to put that in us.

Acts 14:17 says "God has not left himself without witness." The best testimony of God lies in the image of God that still can be seen in man. It is just marred without God's intervention. But the spiritual longings of man still point to a creator who can do something about our fallen condition.

God is not punishing us for Adam's sin; Adam's sin is still punishing us.
