Hello, I have a question about dreams. I dream every night, sometimes multiple dreams, sometimes I remember them, others not too clear, but I do know I dream every night. Last night's dream scared me, and unfortunatly, I seem to have more horrid dreams than nice, well someone was trying to kill me anywhere I went. Others were trying to help me and hide me. I wake with headaches alot of time. I've tried changing pillows and I don't eat before bed. I was recently born again and have did away with alot of bad habits but regardless, I still have bad dreams. I've prayed for God to take them from me or reveal what could be causing them. Please let me know if you have any insight on my situation, if not, please pray for me because this is beginning to become rather bothersome and my concerns are growing because of it. Thank you so much and may God Bless you all. Your sister in Christ, Angela

First of all, the Bible teaches that God can and does speak to us in dreams. In the first three chapters of Luke and the first chapter of Matthew, God prepared Mary, Joseph, and the wise men (as well as a few other individuals) that Jesus was coming by speaking to them in dreams. In Acts 2, Peter quotes the old testament prophet Joel as saying, "in the last days... your young men will see visions and your old men will dream dreams." So clearly God still uses dreams to communicate timely messages. I kow of one such occasion in my own life. However, not every dream comes from God.Sometimes Satan will introduce error to our thinking through our dreams. In Job 4, Eliphaz recounts his experience of a "spirit gliding past his face" on a night where he had frightening dreams. As you read his message he seems to think it was God speaking, but we know from the conclusion of the book that he was wrong. False prophets often alluded to their dreams as evidence that God spoke to them. But in Jeremiah 23:25-28, we read "Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let him who has My word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to with grain?" So dreams are "straw" and the Word of God is "grain." Note the similarity, but note the big distinction: grass is lifeless; grain is living and gives life. Every dream needs to be filtered through what God clearly speaks through His Word. Stay in the Bible to learn to recognize God's true voice. Isaiah 8:20 says, "To the law and to the testimony (scripture); If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn." In your letter you speak about the foreboding, terrifying nature of your dreams. Remember: "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline." 2 Timothy 1:7 , and "there is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out all fear." 1 John 4:18 When my children had night terrors, I taught them these verses which gave real peace: Psalm 56:3 "Whenever I am afraid, I will trust God." Psalm 127:3 "God gives His loved one sleep." Sometimes the things God reveals in dreams may not be sunshine and rainbows, but it should not inspire fear. "Submit yourself therefore to God; resist the devil and he will flee from you." James 4:7 Love, Pastor George Fike
