I have a friend who is Catholic. She is very spiritual and devout. We agree on most things but differ in some important areas. My question pertains to last week's weekend service. She offered to bless me with holy water. I accepted. Didn't see anything really wrong with it, but something bothered me about it. I was going to start an important time in my life. The only thing that bothered me was that she said a Catholic saints name for protection. Does this fall under what Pastor Dave talked about?

It can fall under what Pastor Dave shared. There are a great many religious practices that lean toward a belief in "magic." The only person the Bible teaches us to call on is God himself, in the name of Jesus. Here's what Jesus said: "In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God." John 16:26-27 NIV
