In my Bible reading the other day I came across this: 1 Chron 29:19 "All this," David said, "I have in writing from the hand of the LORD upon me, and he gave me understanding in all the details of the plan." 20 David also said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished Is David saying that they will have a hand of protection around them only until the temple is finished and then it's open season on forsaking them??

Hi, Donna. I am glad you are reading in 1st Chronicles. That book was one of the biggest learning experiences I had when I read through the Bible. As you continue reading, you'll see that God helped Solomon see it through to completion and blessed its dedication. When you get to 2nd Chronicles chapter 7, you'll read God's instructions for continued blessings and His prescription for renewal after their failure: 12 the LORD appeared to him at night and said: "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices. 13 "When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, 14 IF MY PEOPLE WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME WILL HUMBLE THEMSELVES AND PRAY AND SEEK MY FACE AND TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, THEN WILL I HEAR FROM HEAVEN AND FORGIVE THEIR SINS AND HEAL THEIR LAND. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. There was no open season declared; God's whole intent was blessing. It seems that when we work with God, he makes straight a path for us. To not walk with him means getting ourselves onto a much darker path. Both paths can be difficult at times, but it's always better to be walking down the correct one. Hope this helps. Pastor George
