We're about to build a new house and the wife came up with the idea of printing a couple of scriptures to bless our new start and sticking them under the foundation before they pour it to "get us off on the right foot".

Any suggestions/ideas for good verses to include? Would be cool to have a house based not only on the Word (spiritually), but actually *on* the Word (physically)!

Anyone is welcome to answer this one... the foundation probably won't be poured for better than a month yet.

A couple of good ones come to my mind:

By wisdom a house is built,
and through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.
Proverbs 24:3,4 NIV

Unless the LORD builds the house,
its builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city,
the watchmen stand guard in vain.
In vain you rise early
and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to those he loves.
Psalm 127:1,2 NIV

How about some others?

Excellent, thanks! I hope I'm not out of line in inviting others to answer, but the more, the merrier (for this topic at least).

Hopefully this will hope others, too, since there's so much homebuilding going on now in San Antonio.

Anyone else?

As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

I love this one, and I have it above my doorway.

That's a good one, Maureen... the wife had a nice wooden plaque with an abbreviated version of that made some time ago, and it hangs in the living room. Thanks!

Thanks for all your suggestions. They placed the foundation forms and the plumbing last week, and we printed off some verses, laminated them, and my wife buried them right in the middle of the house. This house will be built on Love and the Bible! He also gave us a better lot than we originally selected, at no extra cost, because the builders "accidentally" began building on the wrong lot, and the company said, "You like it? It's yours, and since it was our mistake, no extra cost."

All we have to do is re-sign updated contracts (which we have in hand) and away we go!
