I think it would be super awesome if membership classes could be
offered online... you know like defensive driving courses. So this way
you can do your membership classes that fit around people with crazy
schedules like mine.

While we have discussed offering classes online, we also feel like the membership and baptism classes need the personal connection when we do it live. An important feature of our baptism seminar is the face-to-face opportunity to share with a counselor how you came to know Christ. In some instances, individuals who attended did not fully understand how to become a Christ-follower until they sat down and talked with one of our counselors. The membership seminar is another opportunity we have as pastors to personally communicate with people at a significant time in their lives. Information can be dispensed online, but the instantaneous feedback can be done much better in person.

I was wondering if maybe the class could be offered at two different times. Our situation isn't so much a crazy schedule as it is finances/gas prices. My husband and I have recently started a sign business from home and funds are so tight that we can only afford to drive into San Antonio from Pipe Creek once a week. In fact my mom contributed to the gas for last weekend. She didn't want us to miss church since we have told her how much we like BRCC. I had been thinking about attending the class coming up on the 17th but even if we attend the 1pm service, we would have to come up with something to do for 2 hours. Maybe a class offered before the 5pm Saturday service so people could attend the class and then attend service. Or..maybe right after the 1pm Sunday service although that would make for a very long day for the pastor. Just a thought.

Right! We'll do membership classes online. Then, Celebrate Recovery, Fuel, Cross Street, Kid's Stuff, The Gathering, and finish it off with the Weekend Services!! Wow. A virtual church. Just think if we would have started this four years ago that over budget building would never have been started.

I don't know about doing membership classes online. I do agree that the face to face is a very important part of the class. My issue is childcare. Either my husband or I could go to the class; but not both of us due to no childcare for the class. You would think that childcare would be offered if they are trying to encourage new people to join the church. I realize finding volunteers is difficult, but there should be an option for those of us with small children.
