Today is the 26th day of my son's current migraine. He is in WHMC for the second time for this migraine. The first time they couldn't break the migraine and sent us home on a new med. He has been so ill that he had to be readmitted because he was very dehydrated. Again they are trying some other meds and have run more tests.
He has been really sick and even on the days prior when he wasn't vomitting with his migriane, he was debilitated by them. He has had migraines since Nov of '04. These have kept him from a normal childhood. They interfere with his education, social and emotional growth. At best, he spends 2 days a week with a migraine while he wears a hat and sunglasses, closes all of the curtains and hides under a blanket for the entire time. He has only had 1 good month where he had 2 migraines a week. Normal is 3-5 per week. Up until now, for the most part the drs had his migraines doing a little better with limited vomitting at least.
This is his 4th hospital stay for migraines. The previous 2 stays he was given one of the strongest migraine meds and then after maxing out the doses, he was released still without breaking the migraine.
Please pray for David. I pray he not only gets relief now but forever. Please pray also for the Drs to have wisdom. Also for me, I am having a hard time remaining hopeful. I need God's strength.

Thanks Pastor George. We have appreciated your help in the previous situations. He is doing a little better today. They considered releasing him as they are no longer doing anything that we can't do at home. They kept him tonight anyway as he is still vomitting some. One of the meds he is taking is in IV form and once we go home it will go to pill form. The blood levels of this medicine is 1/2 what it needs to be so I said I wanted to keep him there a little longer so that they could increase that med via IV prior to his release. He has had a couple of hours with no pain which has been heaven sent!! Overall he still is suffering and meds seem to fail us. At least now he is hydrated and tummy is no longer blocked up. Now if we could get rid of the headache and the vomitting...........I am afraid that once he is released he will continue to vomit and become dehydrated again OR due to the vomitting, his med levels will be off which will effect his migraines and moods. Niether a good situation. I am honestly running low on faith and hope. I know the Lord has great plans for David and this is just a step that will eventually lead to something good. But right now as mom, I am getting frustrated with God. I know that sounds horrible and trust me I am embarrassed to share it. Please pray for David, everyone and pray for my faith to be strengthened. Thanks, Valerie Ghan

Ms. Ghan I'm so sorry to hear about your son as well as what you're going through as a mother. I agree please don't give up hope. I will pray for you and David.
I'm not sure if you've tried other ways besides David being on medication but possibly may want to try certain nutrtional diets or what foods to stay away from that may trigger it or help minimize. Forgive me but i'm not trying to sound like i'm a doctor or professional but sincerely concern of other suggestions. But I have a book i bought years ago by Dr. James F. Balch titled "prescription for nutritional healing" which i looked up under migraines and has interesting studies and suggestions. But definetly ask his doctor before attempting any suggestions on the book. I bought the book b/c i'm a firm believer that what we eat contributes to most health problems as well as stress and can be preventable. I hope you don't take it the wrong way of never implying im lecturing but have the desire especially my fellow christains in need of support. But if you'd like please contact me if you're curious to know more about the book i'd love to share anything that i know that may or may not help but sure willing to help what i can. There's also a website that's more updated if you have access to internet i believe it's www.webmd.com. You can type in certain health issues and will direct you to it. Not sure if that would help but a suggestion.
From time to time I watch a christain channel show called "everyday living with Joyce Meyer" and her regular guest on her show is a strong christain doctor on preventable health issues. I will write again once i find out his name to be exact. I bought one of his book titled "Stress" (i believe that's the title) as a gift for someone and he has other books he wrote concerning today's health issues. I hope i'm not discouraging by telling you so much of this but I see all of us as God's children and that's what he wants us to do is help support when one feels down to try to regain their hopes. So please don't especially give up on our heavenly father. I lost someone very closest to me who was my dad of health issues that could have been preventable. I'm not angry at God but in ways i'm very grateful he brought me closer to my dad that i never have before. I'm grateful to God for that chance to have experienced that kind of bondness than not at all. So i still have the desire to love and keep growing strong with my faith. I have absolute faith David will get better. And again Ms. Ghan keep your faith strong even during this helpless times you're going through as we are all praying for you. Please feel free to contact me at s_aranel@yahoo.com or 846-6585.
p.s. i bet you weren't expecting this long response but i'm funny that way i have a shy impression and speak less but i write more.
with love & faith, shirley
