Many of you have mentioned that it would be VERY cool if BRCC would/could launch an "official" group of bikers. Scott and I would LOVE to be involved and join a ride as often as we could. However, we need someone to step up and "own" the group, plan a ride, and communicate with everybody. Anyone capable and interested? Post it here....let's see what surfaces! Mark

OK. It ain't 'nuthin'-but- a- thang' for me to plan a day & route for a ride.

Sunday, 4 June after church (1:30ish) let's gather.

Proposed route:
- BRCC to Scenic Loop Rd in Helotes
- Scenic Loop to I-10 in Boerne
- I-10 to Welfare/Waring exit (10 miles?)
- Country roads to abandoned train trestle
-Tresle to old #9 road & train tunnel/bat cave
-Tunnel to Lukenbach
-Lukenbach to Albert
- Albert to Greune via river road
- Gruene to Specks store via hiway 46 to Bulverde
- On to Home

This route is extemely flexible and open to suggestion at any point along the route. It may be best for consensus to determine the outcome.

Any thoughts?

Please let me know if your interested.

Riding for a cause.

For those who can get away from work on occasion, I highly suggest joining up with the Patriot Guard.  This is a group who rides to honor fallen heroes.  The group started in order to block those who would call themselves Christians.  I speak of the group who loves to show up at servicemembers' funerals in order to spread hate, the "God Hates F*gs" banner wavers who insist that God kills servicemen because America tolerates homosexuality.  They show up and yell hateful things at servicemembers' families *during funeral services*!

The Patriot Guard was formed to show up at funerals and form a wall between these... people... and the families mourning their loved ones.  If need be, engines will be started to drown out the hate, and the Patriot Guard members form a wall, with backs turned, and absolutely no interaction with these clowns.

The missions, however, have morphed into a way to pay respects and honor those fallen.  I participated in a mission last Friday (video is at http://tinyurl.com/fosmo of the newscast) and we were thanked profusely by many family members.

An excellent way for true Christians to provide support to the families of those fallen.

The Patriot Guard website is at http://www.patriotguard.org for more information.

GOD LOVEs everyone. He may not approve of your life style, but he loves you any way. He does HATE sin. So we are to be as the lord & love your brother as one would love thy self. We won't approve of your sin, but we will still love you & help in any way possible. For some one to show any disrespect to any one fighting to keep this country free & safe,it's un-American. If you can't defend this country because you have sinned then no one would be there. For we have all sined & fall short of the LORD !!!!!!

Incidentally, I forgot to mention something very important.

These missions, and this group, are totally focused toward respect, and it doesn't matter what you ride, or even *if* you ride.  All makes of motorcycles are welcome; at our mission last Saturday we had Harleys, metric bikes, cages, and even one trike!  One intrepid soul showed up on his oldschool hardcore hardtail chopper, with stretched front end (*not* easy to handle in a slowspeed funeral procession), and we even had a cute little Hondamatic 400!

There were also a total of 8 cars that brought up the rear; they were greatly appreciated, as they carried coolers full of iced-down water bottles!

Again, this is a great way to serve the community.  Contact me, or visit the site above, for more details; visit the "Letters of Appreciation" section if you don't mind shedding a few tears.

Jack M. is putting a ride together for Saturday, 22 July 2006. He writes:

“I said early!  6:30 AM at the Shell Station in Helotes. That's on the corner of Bandera rd. and FM 1560. The early mornings have been relatively cool.”

All are welcome to ride along.

Had a great ride to Bandera and a Big Country Breakfast when we got there. The weather was cool and clear. We had 5 bikes in all. After eating, 3 went back to SA while Tom and I continued on for another 3hrs. Tom lead the way down hwy 16 to Medina city, Kerrville, then to Comfort, Lukenback, Sisterdale, Boerne and back to Helotes. We rode approx. 6hrs. making stops along the way to stretch legs and look at the scenery. Really look forward to doing this again. Thanks to Al, Alice and Mike for going with us. Alice, you get to lead the next time!

Wow... what lessons today.

The message during the men's breakfast today was about adventures and how and why God leads us on them.

I had showed up fully intending to go on a ride with the other bikers after the service, wherever.

But during the service God let me know that I was going to ride out Scenic Loop to 46, then come back in Blanco to 1604 and then home again.

What?  But I was gonna ride with the guys out to have lunch!

I learned a long time ago that when God tells me to do something, especially direct and specific like this... LISTEN!  (See my previous testimony, titled "Testimony: God rides a Harley").

Ok, so I'm riding alone, on a road I've never been on.

It was an adventure.  For those who plan on riding Blanco out that far... when the "suggested" speed sign says 20... they aren't kidding!  God taught me a few lessons about faith, and if he hadn't been with me, the Battlewagon (Harley Electraglide) would have had some problems making it around a few of those *tight* corners.

But the big lesson came towards the end of the ride.  As I approached 1604 on Blanco Road, I was thinking, "Well, that was definitely an adventure, but now I'm back on the *same* road I ride home *every weekday* after work!  What kind of an end to an adventure is that?"

I could almost hear God laugh.  "My Son... don't you see?  I will never send you on an adventure that doesn't end in comfort and familiarity.  I'm always with you, and I will always bring you home safe."

Wow.  Even if your adventure takes you somewhere totally new, you are still going to end up in his arms, a place of comfort and utter safety.

Thanks to the other riders for understanding that I had to go a different way today.  Hope God lets me join you next time!

Hey riders... there is an organization called Texas Honor Ride.  It exists to support our wounded troops.  Ride is coming up 23 Sep, Saturday, to raise funds for the troops.  They are also selling a "Disciple's Cross" to raise funds.

Description of the cross:

The Disciples Cross ™ is made up of three distinct components. The simulated leather cord reminds us of the leather straps used to beat our Savior; the wrapped wire stands for the thorn branches twisted into a crown to mock the King of Kings; and the nails represent the large spikes that were driven into the hands and feet of the Lord of Lords.

Website is http://www.texashonorride.org/ - please check it out.

I learned about this from the Patriot Guard site ( http://www.patriotguard.org ) and it looks on the up-and-up.

I plan on being there, hope to see some of you as well.  Even if you can't make it, getting one of the crosses would help our wounded troops out... I know that cross is going to look good hanging off my bike.
