My name is Tony, and I am a math teacher at O'connor high school. I have been teaching math for 6 years, and I am currently looking to make a career change. I have been looking into sales and analyst positions with companies such as Wachovia and Tesoro. I feel like I have been beating my head against a wall with this whole process. I feel that God is directing me away from teaching, but I have not had any success with my search. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to contact me my email address is e040581@nisd.net. Thank you.

Hi there,

I also was thinking about a career change but I had to seek the Lord diligently. First, I had to discern it was the Holy Spirit speaking and not outside influences. The enemy likes to get us to be "unhappy" and "unfulfilled" where we are at. So much so that we begin to pursue other things that we think may make us happy. Including a different career.

I would ask the Lord to show you what he wants you to do. I don't think he would want you sitting at home collecting unemployment since we are told to work. But, you can ask Him to show you where He wants you to go or what to do. Ask Him to open the doors to where He is leading you.

I found some good articles on the internet about Christians making career choices.

Lots of prayer and fasting as well, along w/the counsel of godly men/women.

Also, I wouldn't move until you hear clearly from the Lord. You can wind up making a big mistake because you were moving on what you felt, not what God said.

be blessed
