I was invited to a sneak preview of the Movie, Evan All Mighty on Thursday 06-21-07. I just wanted to post my opinion.
First of all I want to say this was a very good movie. My family, including my 17 year old & 11 year old sons enjoyed it very much. No profanity or risqué scenes.
In fact, this movie gave me a perspective on Noah & the ark. As the actor playing Evan was teased by neighbors, rejected & called crazy by his family & faced the authorities who tried to stop him from building his ark, I couldn’t help but wonder how Noah felt when he faced this the same way as Evan did.
There was one scene in particular that left an impression on me. At the beginning of the movie, Evan’s wife prayed for her family to become closer. After she & her sons leave Evan because they don’t understand why he is building the ark, she meets God, (Played by Morgan Freeman) in a restaurant. She obviously doesn’t know its God; she confides in him her feelings. He replies, “When we pray to God for patience, he doesn’t just give us patience but the opportunity for patience. When we pray to God for courage, he doesn’t give us courage but the opportunity for courage. When we ask for a closer family he doesn’t just make it happen but provides the opportunity for a closer family” This monologue really hit home for me and open my eyes more to how God provide for us.
My wife was touched by how, no mater how much Evan resisted, God has his way of making us do what he needs us to do to accomplish his will.
At the end of the show, people actually started clapping. We rated this movie on a scale from 1 to 10. We all gave it an 8.
I recommend this movie very much and give it two thumbs up.
Have fun

I like that scene too where God says he gives us an opportunity to face our challenges.

I especially like the scene when Evan is talking to God after the pile of wood had been delivered and God is telling him he wants him to build the ARK(Act of Random Kindness)and Evan is telling God all the reasons why he cant build the Ark because he's got plans for his life.
GOD starts laughing hysterically! Jer. 29-11 came straight to mind. It was a very good movie for all to see.
