Hey all my brothers and sisters in Christ. Have I got a wild proposal for y'all. How about showing your support for kids with cancer, by shaving your head? Yeah, that's right, shaving YOUR heads, BALD!!! I'm a member of St. Baldrick's (no, they're not affiliated with ANY religion or church group). We put on fundraisers to raise money strictly for research on kids cancer. And, to show our support for our "little saints" that have such a horrible disease in their young life, we shave our heads. This event is going on in its 3rd year in San Antonio. It's been going on nationally for about 7 years now, when 17 wild and whacky New Yorkers were sitting around one day and were watching TV about kids with cancer. Each of the 17 original "founders" decided to raise $1000 each around St. Patricks Day and shave their heads. Since then, it has snow bald (lol) astronomically into an international event in 7 years. This year's event in San Antonio, will take place March 18, 2007 (the day after St. Patrick's Day) at none other than Pat O'Briens downtown. I'd like to see at least 10 fellow BRCC members sign up with me...I've already hit up Pastor Dave (I think he'd look GREAT, bald!!!) to see if he'd like to show his support in this event. Oh, and ladies, you can do this too!!! Our last event had an almost 70 year old grandmother that shaved her head. If you're interested in helping and supporting our "little saints" and showing your support, please sign up at the St. Baldricks website, www.stbaldricks.org and follow the instructions. We need shavees (you know...the ones that are going to go bald) and volunteer shavers. p.s. Oh...and this event isn't just open to us "big saints", it's also open to our "little saints" that want to show support too. Hope everyone has a blessed week. Thanks, Ray Powlesson

Count me officially in, Ray. In honor of our family friend, Timothy Kyler, who is in Methodict Children's Hospital in the final stages of cancer, I want to ask my friends to help me raise $1000 for children's cancer relief! Go online and pledge for me at http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/shavee_info.html?ShaveeID=1695 Thanks. Pastor George

Make sure you save that hair!! You should be able to get with someone affiliated with Locks of Love and send that hair to help *more* children with cancer. See http://www.locksoflove.org for more information. Would be terrific to help the kids two different ways at the same time, yes? Last time I cut my hair, Fantastic Sams gave me a free style when I donated 14" of red hair to Locks of Love; I'd imagine you could work out something where they would provide the stylist free of charge for a good cause like yours.

And, George, pass this on to Super Dave (Saathoff) and Brian. I asked them last week and they indicated some interest. Besides, I think Dave wouild look AWESOME, completely BALD!!!! What do you think BRCC???? Do you think Pastor Dave ought to just go for it and just take the shave?????

Aww, Red. How about volunteering to be a shaver? We do also need people that want to help shave the shavee's heads! Just a thought!

Oh, I'll happily be a shaver... just not a shavee this time. 20 years in the Air Force cured me of any desire to have short hair!
