This is the story about the mother-in-law from... well you know. My mother treats my husband horribly. Nothing he says nor does is right. She has paranoid beliefs about his intentions of "breaking up our family." Really, she is the one pushing us away. She has been confronted about her behavior and denies any wrong-doing, so any apology is out of the question. Mostly our children do not know of our concerns related to my mother. They have been protected well. But our son did witness her blowing up about my husband one time. He was distressed about it for weeks afterwards. It's getting to the point where we don't even want to be around her nor have her around our children. She lives in another part of the state, but still comes and visits too often. Both my husband and I were raised in families with dysfunction and we desire to build a legacy that is free from those old generational sins. Ideally, we could raise our kids around family. But then my mother comes around and starts bothering my husband. She professes to be a Christian, but she does not attend any church regularly. She finds something wrong with every single one she visits. She does not read her Bible regularly. She watches tv shows that we would never watch nor let our children see. She is depressed, lonely, paranoid, stressed out, and otherwise CRAZY , and my husband gets the brunt of her frustration. Aside from tackling her and shoving a zoloft down her throat, anyone got any ideas?

Have you and your husband, sat down with you mom, and asked her what it is about your husband that makes her "go off" on him? That's something I would do, but not before, all 3 of you have a prayer session before it. Do it at a neutral site..not at your home or her home. Maybe she's perceiving something about him or has a misconception about him that is making her scared and her only way of expressing it, is to act out the way she does. Of maybe she felt he "wronged" her in some way. Who knows??? She does!!! How do you find out? Ask her.

People say that we hate others because there is something about that person that is reflecting something about ourselves. Romans 12:21, Dont be overome by evil, instead overcome evil by doing good. I will pray for you and your family. In Christ
