What a privilege to travel with the team that went to Moldova on January 1st. Moldova is an eastern European country (former Soviet Rep.) that is very poor and has about 12,000 orphans. The team from BRCC spent about a week with 100+ orphan children playing games, making crafts, singing (Romanian and English)songs and just hanging out. The kids were ages 4 to 15. We gave them some small Christmas gifts but left a part of us with them. We also brought home much more in our hearts than we took in our suitcases. To hold a child close who has no parents is a gift from God. To speak in very different languages and still understand each other is a miracle. To share the love of Jesus with out saying a word is the work of the Holy Spirit. I am in grateful awe of the people on this trip and how God used each one of them to minister to a child. I got to witness in the members of the team what Paul described to the Colissian church as "Christ in us the hope of Glory".

I believe there will be something in the plan for next summer. The level of interest people have will help make that possible. I encourage people to tell Pastor Doug or Miriam of their interest.

Please see an article in the San Antonio Express-News for Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, entitled "Warm feet, warm smiles warm volunteers' hearts." Having just returned from the trip to the orphanages, I recognize several of the children as well as the room with the flowered tapestry in the background -- this is one of the childrens' bedrooms. It is true that one does not have any idea of the wealth one has until one experiences dire cirumstances. In spite of their not having much, the children seem happy and content with what they have. We shared laughter, folk dances, stories, played games, a couple of movies, singing, picture taking, and many hugs, to name a few. There are several who have more than one sibling that live there. Many times all they want is attention and to be comforted and held. We met some wonderful people who were our interpreters, our drivers, our house hosts who I know were angels sent by the Lord. If you ever have a chance to go on a mission trip, you will be blessed beyond measure. Pray that God will open that door for you. Blessings!

The trip, depending on the time of year and swings in air fares can cost from $1,700 to $2,000. that includes, air fare, room, 2 meals a day, ground transportation, translators, insurance and some supply costs, bag tags, commemorative T-Shirt. You will be responsible for one meal a day and your souvenirs.
