Pure religion before God is this, to take care of the widows and orphans, Well, meet Joyce, a widow who takes in orphans, as operator of Sanyu’s babies home. On Nunambre Hill (Peace hill), Established in 1929, destroyed by Dictator Idi Amin and it’s buidings was used as his main torture chambers and renamed Uganda’s Slaughtering Hill. After Idi Amin was exiled, Sanyu’s babies home reopened approx. 20 yrs ago. Joyce a devout Christian, takes in abandoned babies, most are afflicted with Aids. Some perish not from Aids but from their compromised immune system. Without simple vitamins, basic medicines and Powdered Infamil (they nickname Powdered Gold), their days are gravely numbered or at best miserable. One can of powdered infamil will literally save the lives of two babies, giving their bodies the much needed nourishment to live. If the baby is not adopted after 5 yrs old they will go to a toddler orphanage. After that, they will go to the streets.

FRONTLINE OUTREACH a.k.a. Tom & Joe Faunce a.k.a. (scum of the earth), and (whoever else wants to go, like Corey or Will), will go shopping and order medicines and relief supplies from International Aid, Mennonites MedPharmacuetical, Open Doors , Walmart and the famous Dollar stores. $800,000- $900,000 in supplies will cost us about $20,000 including flight and 30-40+ tubs usually 2-3000lbs. of supply. All supply is hand delivered to the people or med clinics in need, all given without discrimination. (which keeps you from getting killed) After supplying Sanyu’s Babies Home, we will sort materials and go up north to the border area of Sudan in Gulu and Lira (google “Gulu Uganda”) where there are 900,000 + Acholi tribe refugees in 14 camps , living in straw huts. The Ugandan’s in the south are afraid to go to the north , they say you moosungu’s (white men) are crazy. The northern Ugandan’s are so surprised and very happy to see other people not from the neighborhood. In 04’ are trip was miraculously delayed for a needed repair of our Jesus film projector in Kampala Uganda. During our delay going to the north, the LRA terrorist came into the camps and killed over 400 men ,women and children. For the past 23 years this has been the Acholi peoples living hell, untold thousands of young boys are kidnapped to be raised as soldiers, young girls are taken to be used for breeding a so called perfect race. It is said there is not a virgin girl over 13 yrs old in the Ugandan north. We arrived at the camps 2 days after the slaughter.

Our trip was very difficult, so many obstacles, others said it would be impossible to travel there, so the door was closed but not locked. Spirit Airways (our overloaded prop plane ) was almost literal for us. The situation was grave, much sorrow, fear and hopelessness griped the area. For the past 7 yrs 20,000 children leave the refugee camps every evening to sleep safely behind fenced areas in the city of Gulu so they are not harmed or kidnapped, some walk up to 12 kilometers and then leave for home in the morning. No food, only water and the hard ground to sleep on, yet they all looked so happy because they felt safe for the nighttime. About 4-5000 children walk by our living quarters, every morning and late afternoon, we play with them, make funny faces,(since we can’t sing) and showed them the Jesus film in their little known Acholi language.(most have never seen a picture film) Many stories are told to us about parents tortured, killed and children kidnapped.

We traveled by rented trucks with military escort (or travel real fast without one) and supply many of the clinics in the refugee camps with worm medicines, malaria meds, antibiotics, vitamins, infamil. We passed out toys, candy, tools, baby and kids clothes, and showed the Jesus film. Many of the camps had pastors that had no Bibles, which changed real quick, some could read English and we would give them Leather Study Bibles, retail for $130 (100+) we paid $11 each. We had 300 + Acholi Bibles, purchased from the Muslims at a great discount, and 80,000 + Acholi and Swahili gospel booklets. The Ugandan Swahili soldiers risk their lives, protecting the refugees and, when on patrol an easy ambush from the terrorist LRA is all too common. We supply the soldiers with Bibles, tools, meds and vitamins .

Some camps farther into the bush are guarded by gun toting child militia, At that time the U.N. had no presence other than 1 pickup truck. The U.N. left the Acholi people many years ago . No other relief agency’s were seen, just a few European reporters. The trip back south was just as crazy. Back at the Sanyu’s babies home we were able to give gifts and money to the 40 + workers , (wages are $4-$6 a month) and also supply another orphanage and a trade school for teenagers with tools, and purchase 8 sewing machines and bolts of cloth. Before leaving for home , kitchen appliances are purchased for Sanyu's Babies Home and all the money is given away. We had no gas money left for the orphanage truck to get us to the airport, with a few left over empty tubs we were able to trade one empty tub for $80 in gas , the gas station owner was elated, our $7 plastic tub for $80 in gas !

Humbled by the experience from a people without complaint and full of appreciation. And back in the States where the opposite attitude prevails, you understand that crossing the seas is not the answer , but, seeing the Cross is. 3 trips in the past 4 yrs to the Gulu camps, not too much has changed other than a stronger UN presence with the terrorist LRA on the move. Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kosova, Honduras and India have their stories too. The harvest is ripe all over the world, especially in our own back yard, we just have to go out and pick it. In Feb.07 Vietnam ,Laos and Cambodia are in the works, maybe you want to go or help out.
