The new BRCC Christmas CD is here.... For those of you that have not heard it, you don't know what you're missing. I got one last night and I am listening to it at work right now and it's awesome!!! A world of thanks to Scott, everyone that worked on the cd and their families. I can only imagine the time it took to create such an awesome work. Please congratulate the Scott and the gang when you see them. Liz

Hey, what happened to the post about supporting the worshi leaders. I thought it was a great idea.

I think there's a legality issue to paying extra for the CD's and giving it to them. If you want to bless them extra for Christmas, just give them a gift and a note.

The musicians cannot be paid by the church for the CD because it would have to be reported as compensation by the church. It's a better idea for people who want to bless Scott, Corey, or whoever by just giving them a cash gift and a kind note. Then it is strictly a gift. You can't consider it a tax-deductible contribution, but there are too many complications because of tax laws to run it through the church system. If more people would just tithe, the worship leaders could get pay raises. But then, if money were the only thing they were after they wouldn't be working for a church; it's not a great place to get rich. They didn't make the CD to make money anyway; it's just an expression of their servant hearts. Everybody - why not just give them each a Christmas gift? I guarantee you that it would floor them just to get a personal Christmas card from somebody. Just let them know you appreciate what they do.

Thanks for the clarification. I agree with you 100%...it would be a nice gesture for people either to bless them with a gift card, praying for them and their or even just a greeting card. I wish more people thought this way, I for one really do appreciate their servant hearts and I'm thinking of ways to bless them. Liz

As per our church's bookkeeper concerning the recent posts about donations to the musicians: "As far as the question about donations to our employees, we cannot do that. The IRS has very strict guidelines regarding designated accounts and we have to be very cautious about their use. If an individual wants to give a gift to one of our employees, they must do it directly and not involve the church."
