Okay... so you may have heard on the news about a recent meth lab drug bust.  Well there were actually 2 labs form what I understand.  One of them was in the apartment accoss from me.  I mean it was in my building.  There are more reasons why this is such a bid deal to me.
So I went and talked to my apartment comples manager today to asked about what they were going to do. Or about braking my lease.  They told me no.  That I could but out or get a lawyer.
If you know anything about meth you know it penetrates walls, carpet, clothng, counters everything.  It is dangerous to those that are exposed to it.
So if anybody knows a lawyer that could help.  Or can help in any other way.  I would appreciate it.

Thank you.  I believe it will work out.  I am just taking it all one day at a time.  Thank you, again.

OUCH...sorry to hear that meth lab got busted there.

I'm hoping that this isn't too late for you to take action on.

From being a firefighter who was involved in a meth lab fire and was affected by the fumes from the lab, I can tell you that the apartment complex has to rip out the walls, carpets, and anything else that may have come into contact with the fumes. You can become ill due from contact with residue from it. Sometimes this includes the apartments immediately next door connecting with the affected apartment and directly above it. Sometimes, the whole building has to be demolished.

Now, in your case, if you lived across the hallway from them, I doubt that you'd have any recourse or be able to get out of your lease. I do know that standard apartment leases, state that they have at least 7 days to rememdy any maintenance problems or they're in default of the lease agreement (I know this because my family and I had a few rental properties thru out San Antonio and we modeled our contracts after apartment contracts). Anyway..not being a lawyer, I'd check with one to see where you stand legally. There might be a state health and safety code issue if the apartment complex hasn't stripped that apartment down and replaced what needs to be replaced.

I know that when my crew and I found out the housefire we were assisting another department with, was a meth lab, we had to go into serious decontamination. That included stripping completey down and destroying not only our bunker gear and the clothes we had on at the time. My crew and I were then sent to the hospital for observation from the fumes. Needless to say, to this day, it still affects each of us.

Unfortunately, meth labs are very prevalent in apartments. In fact, the meth heads are using automobiles and truck to make and transport the meth at the same time. They're a time bomb waiting to happen.

I pray that your complex manager does the right thing and lets you move to another apartment or lets you out of your lease. If the manager is unwilling to cooperate, you may have to take it up with their management company or the owner of the complex.

I think you need to call the housing autority. They can do something!
