I am interested in knowing more about this type of ministry.  I have no experience, but have a very dear friend of mine who has done performed this service down in Frio County for a number of years.  He loves it.  I can be reached at doctoralbound@yahoo.com

Hi.  Stan Richardson has been investigating how we can develop an effective prison ministry.  We hope to have details soon.  Thnaks for your emails; we'll put together a mailing list and let you know as it develops.

I've been sensing this as well over the past year, especially an opportunity to take some of our recovery groups to jails.  I know they have AA and NA folks that take meetings to the jails, well why couldn't we start some Celebrate Recovery Step Study meetings going to the jails?

I used to be a nurse in the prison system in Ks - they had a prison ministry that was really awesome.  Would welcome the possibility of getting involved in a prison ministry here.  Email me at psychnurse64@hotmail.com.  Thanks Kellie

So sorry for not responding sooner...

I am very excited to get many responses.  The first steps we need to take is to contact TDCJ and request a ministry application. Once you receive it, fill it out and send it to Hunstville. Once they approve you, then they send you a letter informing you of when and where you can attend a 4 hour workshop. The times and places are pretty convenient. Once you go through the workshop, then you are able to do minsitry  in any prison in the state of Texas. If we have enough people doing this, we can make a huge difference in their lives. We need all kinds of talents, singers, players, people with testimonials, ect. If you want to take the first steps, call 1800-535-0283 and ask the operator for the chaplaincy department. If you want further details, my NEW e-mail address is jvarce@gmail.com    Thank you and God Bless!
