San Antonio has a HUGE problem with over crowded animal shelter and unfortunatly, some are kill shelters.
Here's a list of a few:

4804 Fredericksburg Rd, San Antonio, TX
(210) 226-7461

23445 Us Highway 281 N, San Antonio, TX
(210) 509-3647

And this is a great site: http://adopt-a-dog.1-800-save-a-pet.com/

Good luck and welcome to San Antonio!

Town and Country Vet Hospital is the shelter for Helotes and usually has animals for adoption.

Richard, I don't know too many people who are as cool as dogs.  But I bet you can have an intellectual conversation.  I did see the video last week, and I remember the blooper, but having hard time remembering much else.  Anyway, I would love to say I know one more peron in SA.  You can reach me at tonyaann00@yahoo.com or 210- 557-5755.

We have a 9 month old miniature pincher, Chihuahua mix that you are welcome to.  She is spade and paper trained. I have to admit she has an accident now and again.  We took her in because my mother in law’s Chihuahua that she had for years just couldn’t get along with the new, younger dog that liked to play.  She is a great dog, but with our schedule she just doesn’t get the walks and attention she needs.  She also gets along great with the kids and the cat.  Let me know if your would like her…

Thanks for all the repsonses.  But as it turns out.  I can't get one for several months.  I live in an apartment and there is $300 deposit plus increase in rent.  Even though I only have 3 months left in the apartment.  Then I will move and have to pay deposit somewhere else.  So... as much as I want one, I guess I will wait.

I'm not looking for a pet but I do need to find a good vet for my pet .  We moved here from Bandera and do not know who to go (or not to go to).  Does anyone know a good vet around the NW side of town (we live in NW Crossing)?

Thanks

Also, the pound has some really great pets for adoption (I volunteer there).  Visitors only go into the adoption areas.  Sometimes they also have adoption fairs.

If anyone is interested in a cat, please contact me directly & I can put you in contact with a rescue person.  Thanks.

This may be a little late, I see your posting was over a week ago.  I live in Northwest Crossing also, near NWC elementary.  There is a great vet up at Culebra just east of Less Harrison.
