Hey my name is Sarah and even though I've only been at BRCC for a short time, it is already home to me. I just wanted to share with you a little about how I will be "being the church" this next year.

I'm 26 and have been working with Youth With a Mission (www.ywam.org) since the first of this year. I spent January-July doing mission work in southern Brazil and will be returning to Brazil in about two weeks.

I'll be staying in Brazil for at least 10 months to a year, working with young people, the deaf community, and the indians in the amazon. I will also be serving as staff for a bilingual Discipleship Training School for six months in the areas of translation, audio visual, discipleship, and worship/praise. I'll be living in a missionary base in Curitiba, Brazil for part of the trip, as well as traveling to other parts of the country (Rio De Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Joinville, Mato Grosso do Sul) for short periods of time to work on a variety of projects.

Missionaries with YWAM raise our own financial support, so I just wanted to share a few prayer requests with you all and ask you to pray and see if any of you would like to be a financial supporter as well. I would love to provide you with more information on the work we'll be doing, add your e-mail to my update list, or maybe chat with you after a service if you have some time.

I'll be visiting my family and packing all of my things for the next few days. Please pray for travel graces as I travel to north Texas and central Texas to say goodbye to family and friends. I am also trying to purchase some computer equipment for our base and ask for your prayers in that adventure coming together. Also, I broke my nose over the weekend playing with some children, and I would LOVE your prayers for the swelling to go down and for me to be able to safely do all the driving I need to do this week.

While in Brazil, I need about $350 per month for room and board, health insurance, and toiletries, and there are always unexpected expenses and travel opportunities that arise. Also I would like to make a trip to the dentist and optometrist before I leave (I wear contact lenses and need a new pair, as well as a new pair of glasses for back-up). If you are interested in giving a one time general donation, being a monthly supporter, assisting with the medical expenses, or just would like more information please e-mail me: jollyredgiant@hotmail.com

Thanks a bunch!

Grace and Peace,

Sarah Kaspar

Sarah, I was going to ask you how you came into the missionaly work you are doing? I Lived in Brasilia for 2 months about 8 years ago, and I love the country. I would love to be doing what you are doing. If you could give me any information I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, there are MANY doors into missionary work. In fact, BRCC has several trips to Brazil coming up this year to work on various projects in Rio and Santos. Talk to pastor Dave about getting involved in that!

For me, I work with Youth With A Mission. You can check them out at:  www.ywam.org

I did a discipleship training school (DTS) with them, which was a great time in my life to deepen and strengthen my relationship with Christ and prepare myself to be able to serve to the best of my ability.

I've been to Brazil twice, and just love the country. I feel a huge tug on my heart for that nation and am so thankful to have the chance to live and serve there. I actually completed my DTS in Brazil at the base in Curitiba. It was a bilingual school and I studied and served alongside Brazilians, Deaf brazilians, and Colombians for 6 months.

The school asked me to come back and serve on staff for the next bilingual school starting in January. That is just part of the work I'll be doing on this next trip. After some visa adventures, I'm finally headed back!

I would say pray and ask God what He has for you and your life. If you're interested in long-term projects check out YWAM on the web, but for the moment there is some great work being done in Mexico and some short term trips to Brazil happening right inside BRCC.

Check out the YWAM web page and read about the different opportunities and schools. If you have an interest in doing a DTS in Brazil, e-mail me and I can put you in contact with the directors of the school. jollyredgiant@hotmail.com

Thanks for the read and God bless!

I had the pleasure of rooming with and getting to know Sarah on the women's retreat last month and hearing her stories about her missionary work.  She is one of the most amazing and selfless women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  If you have the resources, supporting Sarah in her work would be a wonderful way of allowing God to do his work through this lovely lady.  Sarah we will miss you. Good luck and God Bless!

Your Friend and Roomie,
Shawn

Hi Sarah,

I met you twice in the auditorium. I'm the one who went to Mexico twice, once with WEC and once with OMS. Will you be back in San Antonio before you leave for Brazil? I might like to meet with you if you have time.

Email me at merbsey@yahoo.com.

Thanks!

Hey Michele,

I sent you an e-mail, but thought I would reply here as well. I'll be at church this Saturday evening and I'll be at the Wed. service as well.

I fly out for Brazil on Thursday and will actually arrive back at my base in Curitiba  around 12pm on Friday.

Just a quick financial update for everyone, I have the money to get back to Brazil, but I only have $190 per month pledged of the $350 per month that I need to stay and serve in Brazil. I'm returning to Brazil on faith that God will provide for my needs, because He is the one who called me to this work.

Thank you all for your prayers and the financial support that have been given. I cannot do the work that God has called me to without you. Please pray for my safe return to Brazil and for God to provide for all of my needs, as He has always done.

I will hold BRCC in my heart and prayers until I return. If any of you would like to be added to the e-mail update list, or information on making donations, please e-mail me: jollyredgiant@hotmail.com

Grace and Peace,

Sarah Kaspar
