Significant verse: 22:17-19
What does the verse say? Soon after Paul's conversion, he was praying in the Temple and fell into a trance. Paul saw a vision of Jesus saying, "Hurry! Leave Jerusalem, for the people here won't accept your testimony about me." But Paul argued with the Lord. The Lord argued back that he must go.
What is God saying to me? Paul prayed in such a deep, intense way that he fell into a trance. And in that state of mind, Jesus spoke to him in a vision. Paul argued with the Lord, and the Lord engaged him in that argument. Lord, I do not pray so deeply and with such intensity that I might fall into a trance or see a vision. Lord, help me grow in my understanding of and practice of deep prayer. I want to pray in such a way that I get in touch with you in a real way. I am open to visions you want me to see. And thank you for letting me "argue" with you in my prayers. Your grace is so great. Thank you. Hear my prayers.
