Subject: Acts 15
Author: Brent Saathoff

Body:

Significant verse:  15:6-11

What does the verse say?
After "vehement arguing" and a long discussion, Peter asserted God had
already accepted Gentiles as they were, saving them by faith and the
grace of the Lord Jesus, not by religious acts like circumcision or
obeying the Laws of Moses.

What is God saying to me?
Some matters are worth strong arguments and long discussions.
"How are people saved?" is one of those issues worth arguing about to
get it right.  Lord, I'm grateful you guided these first believers
to wrestle with this foundational issue:  Did Gentiles have to
become Jews to be saved?  NO.  Praise God.  Thank you,
Lord, that through my faith in you I am saved--no works
necessary.  I thank you that my heart has been cleansed through
faith and through your grace.  As a leader in your church, help me
to discern when it is important and necessary to argue on behalf of the
simple gospel.
