Significant verse: 14:22
What does the verse say? After Paul and Barnabas had faced opposition, persecution, and even violence, many people believed in Jesus throughout the Roman Empire. When Paul and Barnabas traveled back through the cities where they had established churches, these leaders strengthened the believers by encouraging them in the faith and reminding them that "we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God".
What is God saying to me? God was with them in miraculous power. And yet they still faced hardships. Somehow, they came to peace with the presence of God in powerful ways AND the presence of suffering. Lord, you know I struggle with this life perspective. When hardships come my way, I get discouraged and question if I'm in your will or if I'm lacking faith or commiting some sin or something like that. Lord, help me to be at peace when hardships come my way. Let hardships not hinder my faith or my service to your Kingdom.
