Significant verse:  10:2-4

What does the verse say?  Cornelius was described as a devout "God-fearing" person.  He gave generously to the poor and prayed regularly to God.  So God gave him a vision where an angel visited him and said, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have been received by God as an offering."

What is God saying to me?  There's that phrase again:  "God-fearing".  And the picture of a devout God-fearer:  gives generously to the poor and prays regularly.  The angel said GOD had received the prayer and the gifts and offerings.  When I give to the poor, God receives it as an offering.  God views the way I treat the poor as the way I treat him.  He takes the poor personally.  Lord, deepen my love for the poor in our world.  Enable me to do more for the poor.  Please receive what I already give and do as an expression of my love for you and fear of you.  And receive the prayers I speak now as an offering.
