What does the verse say? Philip approached an Ethiopian reading from Isaiah out loud. Philip asked him if he understood what he was reading. The Ethiopian replied, "How can I unless someone instructs me?"
What is God saying to me? This Ethiopian was intelligent, reflected by his duties as a national treasurer and his ability to read at least two languages. But he still needed someone to help him understand the prophecies of Isaiah. He sensed they applied to more than the prophet himself, but he wasn't sure. How many lost or uncertain or hungry but not sure people are just hoping someone would notice their search and ask an engaging question? Lord, you want me to notice the hungry and and walk along side them and feed them. Make my ears quick to hear. Make my eyes discerning to see. Place me in the path of the searchers.
