Subject: Acts 7:39-60
Author: Brent Saathoff
Date: 1/16/2008
Body:

Significant verse:  7:60

What does the verse say?  Stephen had confronted the Jewish leaders for having stubborn hearts and resisting the Holy Spirit.  Stephen's accusers dragged him out of the city and proceeded to stone him to death.  His last words were these:  "Lord, don't charge them with this sin."

What is God saying to me?  What an amazing example of forgiveness!  Stephen forgave people who had falsely accused him and then proceeded to kill him without a proper trial.  Stephen forgave a mob.  He forgave the people who killed him as they were killing him.  And he did so before any of them had asked for forgiveness.  Lord, you forgave that way, too, when you forgave those who crucified you.  And you want me to forgive others in the same way.  Lord, I forgive those who have wronged me or mistreated me or neglected me.  Search my heart.  Is there anyone I have not forgiven?  I forgive.
