Significant verse: 6:1
What does the verse say? As the number of believers grew rapidly, there were rumblings of discontent. Gentile believers complained about Jewish believers that their widows were being overlooked and discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.
What is God saying to me? Even in the first church, problems and conflict happened. If it happened then, I shouldn't be surprised when it happens now. The apostles handled this conflict quickly, with wisdom and compassion, but remaining focused on their calling to pray and teach the Word. Lord, forgive me when I let conflict or problems frustrate me. Help me to see problems like the apostles did: with listening ears, compassionate hearts, and decisive actions. And Lord, thank you for reminding me to stay focused on prayer and teaching the Word--above all else. |
