Subject: Acts 4:23-37

Significant verse:

  4:32, 34-35

What does the verse say?
All the believers were united in heart and mind.  And they felt
that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they
had.  Consequently, there were no needy people among them because
those who owned land or houses would sell them and bring the money to
the apostles to give to those in need.

What is God saying to me?
One of the outcomes of Spirit-filling is generosity and compassion for
the poor.  Generosity flows from a heart that feels like what I
own is not my own.  It's a heavenly view of possessions.
What I own is the Lord's.  I'm just using it.  Everything I
have is his.  Lord, I affirm this truth.  Everything I have
is yours.  I lift my possessions to you and surrender control of
my stuff to you.  Lord, use the blessings I have to help those in
need.  And help me grow in my generosity (and in the faith I need
to be generous at all).
