What does the verse say?
All the believers were filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking
in other languages as the Holy Spirit enabled them. They spoke in
various languages about the wonderful things God has done. The
prophet Joal predicted this "pouring out" of God's Spirit, saying this
pouring would lead to miraculous signs, powers, and ultimately opening
the way of salvation to all who called on the Lord.
What is God saying to me?
The filling with God's Spirit ultimately results in people calling on
the Lord to be saved. Sometimes I find myself wanting this
filling to appease my own doubts or to experience the
supernatural. But God wants to fill me with His Spirit so I can
speak and give witness about Him to those who haven't called on the
name of the Lord Jesus. Lord, fill me anew with your
Spirit. Fill my family. Fill our church. Use us to
speak about your wonders to the lost.
