What does the verse say?
In a way similar to John's baptism with water, Jesus' followers were to
be baptized (literally "immersed") in the Holy Spirit. And this
baptism would not be about the cleansing from sin (like water baptism),
but about receiving POWER when the Holy Spirit "comes upon" us.
This power will help us become witnesses to others about Jesus.
What is God saying to me?
Lord, I want to be immersed in your Spirit every day. I want to
walk in the power of your Spirit. Lord, by faith I ask for the
fulfillment of this promised gift for me, for my family, and for our
church. Lord, remove anything that would block your Spirit or
hinder His "coming upon" us: sin, unbelief, fear. Please
allow us to experience the power of your Spirit so we can be witnesses
with power.
