Significant Verse: 11:51-52
What does the verse say? The High Priest, Caiaphas, prophesied that Jesus would die for Israel and all people. Caiaphas didn't prophesy about Jesus because he believed (he led the organized effort to kill Jesus), but because the Spirit of God inspired him to say it.
What is God saying to me? Inspired. Authority. God recognized established authority and positions and people, working through them to accomplish his will. The Spirit worked through an unwilling vessel: Caiaphas. The Spirit prefers to work through willing vessels. Lord, I am your vessel. Fill me with your Spirit. I am willing to do your will. Show me if there is any area in my life where I am unwilling to do your will or am blind to it. Lord, use me today as a vessel of your Spirit. Inspire me.
