Significant Verse: 8:4-10
What does the verse say? Religious leaders tested Jesus when they presented a woman caught in adultery. The law of Moses called for stoning to death as a punishment. Jesus agreed, but called for a person without sin to cast the first stone. All walked away except Jesus. Then he refused to condemn her, urging her to sin no more.
What is God saying to me? Condemnation. Grace. Throughout his ministry, Jesus revealed a bent towards grace, except when dealing with religious hypocrits. Grace attracts. Condemnation repels and oppresses. Lord, I admit at times I pounce on other peoples' sins. It's like condemnation of others makes me feel better about my own sins, when in reality it causes me to overlook my own sins. Forgive me. Grace initiates forgiveness and cleansing and healing. Make me an instrument of grace in my family, at my workplace, and in the world.
