Significant Verse: 6:35
What does the verse say? The multitudes who were miraculously fed kept following Jesus, hoping for more free food like Moses had given them in the wilderness (manna). Jesus instead offered himself as the bread from heaven that gives eternal life to those who eat it.
What is God saying to me? The people were led by physical hunger. Some missed the spiritual significance of Jesus and his miracles and teachings. Bread gives life for a day. The Bread of Life gives eternal life. We eat that Bread when we believe in Jesus. Jesus, I believe. I have put my hope in you to give me eternal life. When I eat the communion bread, it reminds me that you are my Bread of Life. Lord, help me to lead others to believe in you and eat this Bread. (I prayed for lost people in my family and circles of influence.)
