Significant Verse:  5:6-9

What does the verse say?  Out of a crowd of ill people, Jesus noticed a man who had been ill for 38 years.  When Jesus asked if he wanted to get well, the man replied, "I can't", since others would get lowered into the miraculous waters first (when an angel stirred the waters).  Jesus told him to stand up and he was immediately healed.

What is God saying to me?  The ill man wanted healing.  Jesus wanted to heal him.  But the man was so focused on only one way to get healed, that he responded to Jesus' question in a completely negative way:  "I can't".  Jesus healed him anyway (one person out of a crowd of ill people, and a person who didn't express faith at that).  Lord, I am prone to focus on one way of pursuing your will or solving a problem to the extent that I sometimes become blind to the other avenues you might bless.  I don't turn to you first.  Lord help me have eyes to see; full of faith; great faith.  Show me if there are areas in my life where I'm saying:  "I can't", without turning to you first.  Thank you, Lord.
